This special issue of The Highlander Journal, edited by Christian Poske, explores Naga performing arts and oral traditions, with contributions from scholars based in India and Algeria. Topics include contemporary musical expressions of historical memory, poetic registers in Ao Naga song traditions, the intergenerational role of Zeme women in oral transmission, and ecological themes in diasporic poetry. Together, the articles highlight a vibrant research strand at the Highland Institute, bridging Indigenous cultural practice with global environmental and literary concerns.
