Entangled Medical Futures: Plural Medicine, Climate-Altered Worlds, and More-Than-Human Care in Highland Asia
The international workshop Entangled Medical Futures: Plural Medicine, Climate-Altered Worlds, and More-Than-Human Care in Highland Asia (University of Edinburgh, 8–10 October 2025) brought together scholars and practitioners from South Asia, Europe, and beyond to explore the intersections of health, healing, and ecological change in highland contexts. Hosted by the Centre for South Asian Studies and the Edinburgh Centre for Medical Anthropology, in collaboration with UiT The Arctic University of Norway and The Highland Institute, and supported by the British Academy Visiting Fellowship, the event featured panels on ritual and healing, indigenous medicine, pedagogy, antimicrobial resistance, therapeutic trust, and policy. The programme reflects a milestone in the launch of PluriMed and documents the conversations shaping future scholarship on medical pluralism in the Anthropocene.
